Dominica is home to some spectacular and unique wildlife, both on land and in the sea.

In the forest you will find an abundance of interesting creatures, including our resident possom, the Manicou, the Agouti which is sort of a cross between a rat and a guinea pig, the very endangered Mountain Chicken ( which is actually a kind of frog), green iguanas and boa constrictors. There are also two indigenous species of parrot, as well as many other colourful birds with great singing voices.

Our local beach at Rosalie (20 minutes walk from 3 Rivers) is a popular nesting ground for a few different types of turtle, and whale watching is also a popular and rewarding activity here in Dominica.
